| Coast side of Lorca
Lorca castle is set upon the highest mountain outcrop and overlooks the entire Lorca plains as well as some of the Sierra de Espuña mountain range. These plains are on the coastal side of the E15 motorway. The villages of Purias and Aguaderas are popular amongst the spanish and other europeans as there are no massive developments and they are just a few minutes easy drive (or even cycle ride into the centre of Lorca) yet just 20 minutes easy drive to the beaches at Aguilas or Calabardina. This area attracts smaller developments with generous sized plots that offer more privacy and amintain a rural tone to the area (5000m2 as a minimum for new build property with some larger ones at 20000m2). Both Purias and Aguaderas offer important facilities such as a health centre, shops, bank, bar/restaurant and yet also retain the traditional culture and lifestyle of rural agricultural Spain. Purias has 2 very popular schools offering full time education for primary and secondary age groups. Most property locations in this area have a view of the castle which is lit up at night.
